The World Economic Forum and Skills Development Scotland list creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking among the most valued skills for future jobs. These are called metaskills: skills that help you learn and adapt in any career.

Where it can lead

  • Design: product, graphic, interior, fashion, UX, game and architecture.
  • Media and communication: advertising, marketing, branding, film, photography, journalism.
  • Business and enterprise: entrepreneurship, project management, innovation roles.
  • Science, engineering and health: problem-solving and design thinking are used everywhere.

The award is valued for design courses at Edinburgh Napier University and Edinburgh College, and your portfolio can support applications to art school and other courses that ask for one. See the Careers & University section for more.
